Update to ClassCart's Pricing

We have some news regarding ClassCart’s pricing; in 3 months - on 16th September - we will be increasing ClassCart’s subscription price to $500/year.

We have been discussing with some teachers, and feel that $500 is the right price for us. While this is where we have landed, we are still in dialogue with teachers and will adjust if we find it does not work for schools. To this end, we would like to use this 3 month period to hear from you, so please reach out to let us know what you think.

Why are we making this change?

We started charging $350/year in March of 2020, and since then we have added a lot of functionality, such as class scheduling, recipe file uploading, discovering recipes from other schools, as well as many small improvements. In the 4 years since then, we have avoided a price increase because we didn't feel we had a full offering yet. While there is still a lot to be done to make the program a smoother experience, we now feel we have enough major features to consider our program a full offering.

From the beginning, ClassCart's development has been and continues to be teacher driven. We started ClassCart to help out teachers at our high school and expanded when we realised many Home Economics faculties needed a good solution like we were building. Since then teachers such as yourself have helped us improve the program with their feedback and feature suggestions.

In just a few years, ClassCart has grown to serve over a hundred schools and, as a two person team, we have found ourselves increasingly stretched thin. As such, we may have become slower to respond to customer support queries, and to resolving issues in the program.

This change in pricing would free up our time so we can both be fully dedicated to ClassCart. We would be able to provide better support, improve on existing features such as costing links, and finally get around to implementing features that have been in our backlog for a while, such as stocktaking.

We understand that this is a big jump, and we don't make it lightly. We want to take great care to keep the program affordable. If you feel this change makes the program unworkable for your school, please let us know.

How does this affect you?

Depending on when your subscription renews this is how your school will be affected by this change:

  • If your school has already renewed their subscription this year, or will renew before the 16th of September 2024, you will be charged the current price until the end of your subscription period next year.
  • For subscriptions renewing after the 16th of September 2024, the new price of $500 will be in effect.
  • If your school has renewed for multiple years, you will have locked in the current price for the duration of the renewal.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us: support@classcart.com

Update: Based on feedback, we opted not to increase the subscription price. Instead, we introduced a new lower plan for smaller schools. Read more.
